Build a 23 Piece Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Hello lovelies!

Today I’m going to be sharing what my spring capsule wardrobe will look like this 2019 (wow, that’s a crazy year to say). I’ve been doing this capsule thing for a while now, but this is the first time I’ve actually made a seasonal wardrobe.

In the past, I’ve mostly experimented with a year round capsule wardrobe and my one week wardrobe. And while I absolutely adore and promote both of those methods, I wanted to try something new!

The thing I love about doing this for a season is that it will allow me to really focus in on adding in spring colors and prints that are sadly lacking in my closet!

Hold Up

What the heck is a capsule wardrobe? I’m so glad I made you ask! Basically, it’s only having a small amount of clothing in your closet that you can mix and match easily, instead of a bunch of statement pieces and single outfits or those sale finds that don’t match anything you actually own. Um, guilty as charged. You can choose to divide the items in your closet by season or not divide them at all, which is what I chose to do, because seasons don’t really exist when you live in the Deep South.

A lot of capsule gurus will tell you that you should have between 20-40 pieces in a capsule wardrobe, but I’m here to tell you that’s bull. You can have less, you can have more. The only key is having what amount works for you without being excessive, and believe me it takes practice to get it right, but I know you will. The goal is to not have to think so hard each day about what to wear and having that dreaded “I have nothing to wear!” moment.

Spring Capsule Wardrobe

My goal for this spring is to incorporate some color into my pretty monochrome closet. I’m actually only planning on purchasing about 10ish items for the season and going into summer, but I’ve carefully chosen basics I already own and highly recommend to show you foundation of my capsule.

These are the 23 pieces I plan to use for spring, and that’s it! By my estimation and fancy closet math, these 23 pieces should make at a minimum 105 outfits!!! And if you count the different outfits that you can make with the shoes and accessories and those couple extra pieces you’re bound to sneak in, then you’ve got enough outfits to cover you alllll season long.

Outfits

And if you’re extra visual like me, here is just a teeny sampling of my very favorite outfits you can make with this capsule. I love the mix of feminine and a little grunge with that graphic tee. All the heart eyes, honestly.

If you want any of these exact pieces, just click on the item in the picture above, everything is linked!

I hope that helped you visualize it more! I know it can be really tough to plan out your closet when you can’t see it all laid out in front of you, which is why I love doing these little boards.
